She had long hair that framed her face like the soft twirling petals of ylang-ylang. She wore a ribbon around her neck and a bow the colour of midnight. Her white bodice caught the violet orbs, the amber lasers, the bright sparks of pink stars that spun across her from a gigantic mirror ball in the sky. She was Sailor Neptune and it was her birthday. She ate cake on the dance floor. A layered yuzu cake with light yellow frosting. She wrote a note on a napkin and slipped it to him. She pressed against him in a plume of jasmine. He lost her, then he found her again. In the distance through a crowd, he saw her on the streets of Shibuya, through towering alleys, Tetris-shaped buildings, stacked screens and blinking lights, a place with all the colours of the world, but the only one he could see was the ray of bright glittering white that shone on Sailor Neptune.
