The crowd swayed around cerulean waters, lifting their hands against a stark black sky. They held small lightning bolts of flaming absinthe that glittered in the ocean mist. He moved between long shadows of giant rock cliffs and danced to the zephyrs of an untamed sea. The sound of waves crashed to the downbeat. It felt like a place where gods lived, where Creation emerged, where myths were born. Where Poseidon brewed up sea storms, let loose his serpents, and sculpted his winged horses from the salted air and frothy ocean waves. It was a rave on the beach and an otherworldly place. He danced like a mortal, but he felt like a god.
The Club: Cavo Paradiso
MYKONOS
1993 - PRESENT
Perched atop a Mykonos cliff, Cavo Paradiso overlooks an endless sea where people gather to worship the horizon that divides day from night. In 1993, Nikos Daktylides saw this view and imagined a temple for music. It still remains the same decades later, a place where DJs summon sunlit reverie and Mediterranean summer nights feel eternal. The surrounding natural beauty is uniquely incorporated into its design, with visitors dancing from dusk until dawn in order to see the sunrise creep up the sky. In its sun-kissed view is the majestic Island of Delos, the birth-place of Apollo. Cavo Paradiso is a reminder that paradise may be a place, but it’s also a feeling found in the night.
